Slavica Penev
Slavica Penev is a senior research fellow at the Belgrade Economics Institute. Her professional interests include the economic transformation of post-socialist countries in Southeast Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia – in particular the role of investment in the transition process, institutional change, regional integration processes, regulatory reform and implementation of regulatory impact analysis. Her most recent research focused on the role of parliaments in economic policy and institutional and legal reform in Western Balkan countries. Slavica has authored numerous articles published in professional and academic journals and has co-authored seven books on the problems of economic transition and the role of parliaments in economic policy and institutional and legal reform. She was chief foreign investment advisor (external expert) in the first democratic Government of the Republic of Serbia and has headed a number of OECD, GTZ and World Bank projects on investment climate, foreign direct investment and regulatory reform topics, with special focus on the role of parliaments in these processes.
