Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) - The reforms Montenegro has completed in the previous period are giving adequate results, but there are certain fields that could be improved, representatives of Government and the International Financial Corporation (IFC) have stated today.

Minister of Economic Development Branimir Gvozdenovic and the IFC Chief Economist Simeon Djankov discussed the models of cooperation related to the World Bank project, entitled Doing Business, aimed at adequate positioning of Montenegro and improving the reform process.
Djankov has developed the Doing Business report based on the established World Bank indicators, positioning a country from the aspect of its business conditions.

"In order to provide the Word Bank experts with adequate information for the preparation of the Doing Business report for the next year, joint activities of representatives of the World bank and the Government have been agreed, including an analysis of the regulatory reforms conducted last year, as well as of those from the earlier period, the effects of which have become evident recently. Within the framework of this cooperation, the key improvement areas will be identified, as well as the priorities for future period, aimed at increasing a level of Montenegro's competitiveness," the Ministry of Economic Development stated.

Gvozdenovic and Djankov also discussed the current economic situation in the world, exchanging experiences and useful information concerning the measures aimed at alleviating the consequences of the economic crisis.

The Ministry interprets the visit of the IFC Chief Economist as the World Bank's intention to pay more attention to Montenegro in the Doing Business report.
